It's official: (not so) grand re-opening.

The redesign tweaks are virtually done, and I'm very grateful to the young gentleman who took pity on an old man and his boilerplate blog.

Dissertation update: my second draft is in the hands of my outside reader, who will have a month to return it with his comments. Now and then I find myself unexpectedly in a state of mild panic, hoping that he likes it. We'll see.

So, I'm back. You can read the background of my attempts at pseudo-blogging in the archives if you like, but just to reiterate:
  1. I hate blogs.
  2. Because I hate blogs, I read them rarely. Notice the conspicuous lack of a blogroll or linklist here. If you have a blog, please don't take this as an insult. I have no doubt that your blog is thoughtful, stimulating, and in every way better than mine, but I just don't have time to read it.
  3. I don't debate theology in any electronic form. Ever. You're welcome to respond to my posts by posting comments. If I have time, I might answer, but probably only at a summary level. If you comment or email me wanting to debate, I'll respond with an invitation to the Starbucks down the street (lattes are on me). I don't debate theology online. Period. If you think this sounds arrogant, you are demonstrating the main reason why I don't debate theology online.
  4. I teach theology, and I love my students. This blog thing is for me, for them, and other interested parties, in that order. If you are currently my student, and you challenge me to debate, the lattes are on YOU.
  5. Since the emphasis is on theology AND life, there are few subjects excluded from consideration here. Almost anything can come up.
  6. I won't post anything unless a) I have time, and 2) I have something to say.
I think that's enough to get started. For now, I'm hitting the shower - it's date night.

I hate blogs too; but it's the only way I can get hold of you! Welcome back, Andy. (BTW, I'm glad you don't debate theology on-line.)

Hi to Pam and the girls from the surprisingly-moderate-wintered Midwest!

Ray! I'm so glad to hear from you. I hope all is well. What fond memories I have of our Iron Sharpeners meetings at 6a.m. Fridays, (gulp) - 10 years ago!! Aren't you glad that heaven is forever?
